Today we’re going to chat about when the perfect time to schedule your engagement session is! So pull up a chair, get yourself a nice cup of coffee + enjoy!

Engagements typically range between eight months to a year and a half long. This will give you PLENTY of time to choose the absolute perfect date for your session, hopefully with us of course! Here are a few things to help in your decision:

1. Choose an engagement session date that is at least 2-3 months prior to your wedding date. Of course if you’re planning a last minute engagement, 2-3 weeks will suffice. This will give you plenty of time to use your engagement photos for save the dates, engagement announcements, or even decor at your wedding! Let’s be honest, a month prior to your wedding is crunch time. You don’t want to have to worry about yet another thing to do prior to the big day. Your engagement session should be a fun, love-filled time, not a stressful + uncomfortable time.
2. Try and schedule your session around prior commitments. The last thing you want to do is schedule your session for the same day as your birthday- unless of course you’re into that sort of thing. We suggest picking a day that is completely free of any prior obligations for either of you. Pick a day that the two of you can spend relax prior to your session.
3. Pick your favorite time of year. Just because you get engaged in the summer, doesn’t mean your engagement session has to be then too. Pick a season that makes you two comfortable + happy. Those are the two key elements in anything photography related.
4. Watch your work schedules. Choose a date that both of you know for a fact that you’ll be off of work. The last thing you want is to learn the day before your session that you have to work at the same exact time as your appointment with your photographer. For the most part photographers will be understanding, however if you choose a spring or summer engagement session you photographer might have trouble rescheduling your session for a similar date + time. We of course will always do our best to accommodate your schedules + any changes that need to be made.
